Motorcycles can be fun, but motorcycle accidents can be deadly

For many Nevada residents, the beauty of this great state is best enjoyed behind the handlebars of a motorcycle. The wonderful climate and wide-open expanses here make Nevada a popular state for motorcyclists. Although motorcycles are a fun way to get around, they can also be very dangerous. Motorcycles have a smaller profile than most vehicles, so they can be difficult for other motorists to spot. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents involving automobiles have a higher chance of being fatal.

Recently, a motorcyclist was killed in a devastating hit-and-run crash near Las Vegas. The accident happened along the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near mile marker 79 during the early morning hours. Reportedly, a car and a motorcycle were both traveling northbound on I-15 with the car trailing the motorcycle. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the car struck the motorcycle from behind, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown from his vehicle.

Tragically, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead by authorities at the scene of the crash. Police reports said the driver of the car left the scene of the accident. The NHP said they are continuing to search for the driver and vehicle that fled the scene. They described the car as a black four-door sedan.

Undoubtedly, any type of traffic accident can be a stressful thing to experience. However, when the at-fault driver flees the scene of an accident, especially a fatal accident, the experience for the victim’s surviving family members can be traumatizing and absolutely devastating. In Nevada, when acts of negligence in motorcycle accidents cause injury or death, those injured or surviving family members have options to help ease pain and suffering. Those affected can contact an experienced attorney who understands what is at stake following a tragic accident.
