To safely operate a motor vehicle, the driver must be completely focused and attentive at all times, especially as roads become more crowded in Nevada. Losing focus for just a split second behind the wheel is enough to result in a serious or fatal crash. Tragically, car accidents remain one of the leading causes of death and personal injury across the country. A driver was arrested and could be facing serious charges after a recent deadly crash in Las Vegas.
The accident happened at night in the area of Fort Apache Road and Furnace Gulch Avenue. According to reports, the driver of a sedan was traveling south on Fort Apache and aimed to turn left onto Furnace Gulch Avenue. Police reports said the sedan was violently stuck by a northbound sports car traveling at a high rate of speed on Fort Apache Road.
Reportedly, both vehicles left the roadway after the collision. Authorities said the driver of the sedan suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The driver of the sports car was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the sports car was suspected of impairment and was placed under arrest, according to Metro Police.
Driving is a privilege that, unfortunately, far too many people take for granted. These days, just taking a short drive around town could potentially result in a serious or fatal crash. Victims and families in Nevada who have been injured or lost loved ones in car accidents can take action by contacting a lawyer and filing a claim. If negligence is proved, a lawsuit could result in much-needed compensation to help victims and families recover from a traumatic accident.
