Unfortunately, driving under the influence of alcohol is a major problem that continues to plague the state of Nevada. It’s common knowledge that drunk driving is irresponsible, reckless and dangerous. Yet, people still decide to get behind the wheel while intoxicated and, in the process, endanger themselves and all those around them. Every year, thousands of people in the United States are affected by drunk driving accidents.
Recently, two motorists lost their lives in a Las Vegas crash caused by an allegedly drunk driver. The accident happened during the morning hours at the intersection of St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard South. According to reports, a pickup truck that was headed south on Las Vegas Boulevard violently collided with an SUV that was attempting to turn onto St. Rose Parkway. Witnesses said the pickup truck driver ran a red light and caused the crash.
Tragically, the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Authorities said a passenger in the SUV suffered severe injuries and was transported to a hospital where he later passed away. Reportedly, the driver of the pickup truck was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening. Police said the driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Drunk driving is one of the most dangerous things a person can do and often leads to catastrophe. Families in Nevada who suffer the loss of loved ones due to negligence in drunk driving accidents can take action by contacting an experienced litigator. A wrongful death lawsuit, if successful, could result in financial relief to help families recover from this tragedy.
